The Organic Pecorino Sardo is made with organic milk from farms that are responsible for respecting the balance of nature and ensuring the welfare of the animals. The cows that produce this milk are fed with organic food without synthetic chemicals. In addition, farmers maintain their grazing areas without pesticides or chemical fertilizers and refrain from using hormones or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
The universities of Sassari and Cagliari, in collaboration with a team of American doctors, announced in 2009 the results of a research carried out over several years that confirms that Pecorino Sardo cheese contains high amounts of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), an acid Omega-6 polyunsaturated fat naturally present in some food groups and showing bioactive properties for humans.
The research of this team confirms that the regular and constant consumption of Pecorino cheese, as part of a balanced and calorifically correct diet, contributes to a set of bioactive elements able to significantly reduce the risk factors associated with eating habits in the countries Westerners. More precisely, anticarcinogenic, antithrombotic, antiobesigenic and antidiabetic properties will emerge.
